Criteri per l’ammissione degli articoli

Criteria for admitting articles

Italian

Gli articoli debbono riguardare temi attinenti alla storia dei conflitti, della guerra e del militare o alla storia della storiografia, delle scienze, delle discipline e delle interpretazioni relative a tali campi di ricerca (v. Aree disciplinari). Gli articoli debbono avere un carattere di originalità e scientificità. L’originalità può consistere tanto nell’esame di fonti inedite, trascurate o dimenticate, quanto in nuove interpretazioni / prospettive o nella critica epistemologica del “sapere di guerra”. L’Autore/Autrice deve inoltre dimostrare una completa padronanza dello stato attuale delle fonti e della ricerca internazionale sul tema specifico del suo articolo. Le citazioni delle fonti primarie e secondarie debbono essere realmente attinenti e rilevanti. Il direttore si riserva il diritto di modificare titolo e sottotitolo ove ciò sia ritenuto opportuno per accrescerne l’efficacia e di controllare e correggere eventuali errori di trascrizione o citazione.

The articles must concern topics related to the history of conflicts, war and military or to the history of historiography, sciences, disciplines and interpretations related to these fields of research (see Research Fields). The articles must have an original and scientific character. Originality can consist both in the examination of unpublished, neglected or forgotten sources, as in new interpretations / perspectives or in the epistemological criticism of “knowledge of war”. The author must also demonstrate complete mastery of the current state of sources and international research on the specific topic of her/his/their article. The quotes from primary and secondary sources must be truly relevant. The Director reserves the right to change the title and subtitle where this is deemed appropriate to increase its effectiveness as well as to check and correct any transcription or citation errors.

Drafting criteria for the articles

Italian

Si auspicano articoli di lunghezza compresa tra 40 e 60 mila battute, spazi e note inclusi (7 – 10 mila parole). Gli articoli debbono contenere prima del testo 5/8 parole chiave e un breve abstract (8-15 righe) in inglese. Le note vanno apposte a piè di pagina. L’eventuale redazione di una bibliografia finale è rimessa alla discrezionalità dell’Autore / Autrice. Gli articoli vanno presentati in formato word e in carattere Times New Roman. I titoli vanno centrati e redatti in corpo 16, i sottotitoli centrati e in corpo 14. Il testo va in corpo 11 con spaziatura 6 tra i paragrafi, le note in corpo 10 senza spaziatura tra le note e con sporgenza di 0.5. Le eventuali bibliografia finali vanno in corpo 10 senza spaziatura tra le citazioni e con sporgenza di 0.5. Per favore non inserire collegamenti ipertestuali, segnalibri, intestazione, pié di pagina e numeri di pagina né immagini. E’ assolutamente vietato presentare file su cui sia stato attivato il comando “Revisioni/Commenti”. Infatti anche se l’Autore li elimina, questi ricompaiono al momento della redazione. Le eventuali immagini vanno presentate in jpg o PNG separatamente dal testo e numerate nell’ordine di successione. Le didascalie vanno scritte all’interno del file in word, come paragrafi autonomi in corpo 10, inserendole nel punto in cui l’Autore auspica che venga inserita l’immagine.

 We hope for articles with a length of between 40 and 60 thousand characters, spaces and notes included (7 - 10 thousand words). Articles must contain 5/8 keywords and a short abstract (8-15 lines) in English before the text. Notes should be placed at the foot of the page. Any preparation of a final bibliography is left to the author’s discretion. Articles must be presented in word format and in Times New Roman font. The titles should be centered and written in body 16, the subtitles centered and in body 14. The text goes in body 11 with spacing 6 between the paragraphs, the notes in body 10 without spacing between the notes and with a protrusion of 0.5. Any final bibliography goes to body 10 without spacing between citations and with a protrusion of 0.5. Please do not insert hyperlinks, bookmarks, header, footers and page numbers or images. It is absolutely forbidden to present files on which the “Revision/Comments” command has been activated. In fact, even if the author eliminates them, they reappear at the time of editing. Any images must be presented in jpg or PNG separately from the text and numbered in the order of succession. The captions should be written inside the file in word, as autonomous paragraphs in body 10, inserting them at the point where the author wishes the image to be inserted.

• I libri vanno citati indicando in esteso nome e cognome dell’Autore (il solo cognome in maiuscoletto), il titolo completo (in corsivo), il luogo di edizione, l’editore e l’anno. Esempio: Chester G. Starr, The Roman Imperial Navy, 31 B.C. - A.D. 324, W. Heffer & Sons Ltd., Cambridge, 1960.

• I libri collettivi vanno citati indicando in esteso nome e cognome del o dei curatori, seguiti dalle indicazioni (cur.) se il testo è in italiano, (Ed.) o (Eds.) se il testo è in inglese, (dir.) se il testo è in francese o (Hg.) se il testo è in tedesco. Esempio: Frederick C. Schneid (Ed.), The Projection and Limitations of Imperial Powers, 1618-1850, Leiden-Boston, BRILL, 2012.

 • Gli articoli su riviste vanno citati indicando in esteso nome e cognome dell’Autore (il solo cognome in maiuscoletto), il titolo completo dell’articolo (in tondo e fra caporali «»), il titolo completo della rivista (senza premettere ‘in’), il numero del volume e del fascicolo e l’anno (ed eventualmente il mese), seguiti dal numero delle pagine. Esempio: Dmitry V. Lehovich, «The Testament of Peter the Great», The American Slavic and East European Review, 7, 2 (1948), pp. 111–24.

• I capitoli di libro collettivo vanno citati indicando in esteso nome e cognome dell’Autore (il solo cognome in maiuscoletto), il titolo completo del capitolo (in tondo e fra caporali «»), seguito da ‘in’ e dalla citazione del libro collettivo e dall’indicazione delle pagine. Esempio: Paola Sereno, «‘Li Ingegneri Topograffici di Sua Maestà’. La formazione del cartografo militare negli Stati Sabaudi e l’istituzione dell’Ufficio di Topografia Reale», in Rinaldo Comba e P. Sereno (cur.), Rappresentare uno stato. Carte e cartografi degli Stati Sabaudi dal XVI al XVIII secolo, Vol. I, Torino, 2002, pp. 61-102.

Ripetizioni delle citazioni

• La citazione completa va indicata solo la prima volta. Qualora venga ripetuta, vanno indicati il solo cognome dell’ Autore (in maiuscoletto) seguito da ‘cit.’ (se necessario, indicare in corsivo le parole del titolo strettamente necessarie per identificare l’opera, seguite da ‘cit.’).

Citazione della sitografia

 • Evitare indicazioni pleonastiche (es. http//www e data di accesso). La citazione di opere online va fatta coi criteri degli articoli su riviste, indicando in corsivo il nome del sito (es. academia.edu) seguito da ‘online’.

 • The books should be quoted by indicating the author’s full name and surname (the only surname in small capitals), the full title (in italics), the place of publication, the publisher and the year. Example: Chester G. Starr, The Roman Imperial Navy, 31 B.C. - A.D. 324, W. Heffer & Sons Ltd., Cambridge, 1960.

 • Collective books must be quoted by indicating in full name and surname of the editor or curators, followed by the indications (cur.) if the text is in Italian, (Ed.) or (Eds.) if the text is in English, (dir.) if the text is in French or (Hg.) if the text is in German. • Journal articles should be quoted by indicating the author’s full name and surname (the only surname in small caps), the full title of the article (in the round and between caporals «»), the full title of the magazine (without prefixing ‘in’), the volume and issue number and the year (and possibly the month), followed by the number of pages. Example: Dmitry V. Lehovich, «The Testament of Peter the Great», The American Slavic and East European Review, 7, 2 (1948), pp. 111–24.

 • The collective book chapters must be cited by indicating in full the author’s first name and surname (the only surname in small caps), the complete title of the chapter (in the round and between caporals «»), followed by ‘in’ and the collective book citation, followed by the number of pages. Example: Paola Sereno, «‘Li Ingegneri Topograffici di Sua Maestà’. La formazione del cartografo militare negli Stati Sabaudi e l’istituzione dell’Ufficio di Topografia Reale», in Rinaldo Comba e P. Repetitions of quotations

• The complete citation must be indicated only the first time. If it is repeated, only the surname of the author (in small capitals) followed by ‘cit.’ (If necessary, indicate in italic the words of the title strictly necessary to identify the work, followed by ‘cit.’).

Sitography quote

 • Avoid pleonastic indications (e.g. http // www and access date). The citation of works online must be done with the criteria of the articles in magazines, indicating in italics the name of the site (e.g. academia.edu) followed by ‘online’.
